A practical plan for your document collection
Documents support everyday tasks, from reading public information to completing an application or understanding a workplace policy. We help you improve the files people rely on, in Arabic and English.
We work with PDF and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. An initial review helps define the volume, complexity and priorities, along with the relevant accessibility requirements and available source files.
PDF/UA and the right target for your documents
PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1:2014) applies to PDF 1.7; PDF/UA-2 (ISO 14289-2:2024) applies to PDF 2.0. We agree the appropriate target, source-file workflow and validation approach before remediation.
WCAG and WCAG2ICT guide relevant content checks. UAE policy, Section 508 or EN 301 549 requirements are included where applicable. Verification combines technical validation with specialist review of meaning, reading order and assistive technology use. PDF/UA applies to the PDF output; Word, Excel and PowerPoint source files need their own accessibility checks.
What makes a document usable
Structure and navigation
Headings, lists and other structural information help people understand the document and move to the content they need. Structure must be meaningful as well as visually clear.
Reading order and language
Content needs a logical sequence when read by assistive technology. Arabic, English and mixed-language documents require attention to language and direction throughout.
Tables and visual information
Table relationships, image descriptions and chart explanations should communicate the information people need, including information that is only apparent visually.
Practical quality checks
Checking a revised file includes how people read and navigate it with assistive technology. Automated results inform the review and need specialist interpretation.
How the work progresses
Review and prioritise
Assess the documents and agree which files to address, the target requirements and the delivery plan.
Remediate
Address structure, reading order, headings, text alternatives, tables and other barriers relevant to each file.
Check and hand over
Validate revised files with assistive technology and provide a record of the work, with guidance for future updates.
Keep future content accessible
We help authors apply the same requirements to new documents through accessible templates, source-file guidance and repeatable export checks. This makes the next version easier to maintain and review.
Useful files and a repeatable approach
The handover can include revised files, a record of the changes and guidance for the people who create the next version. We agree how source files, final exports and quality checks will be managed so that improvements can be maintained.
For a large collection, priorities can reflect audience need, frequency of use and the importance of the task. A current application form may need a different approach from an archived presentation.
Planning document support
What should we share for an initial review?
A representative selection of files, their formats and languages, the approximate volume and any source documents. Include requirements about publication, ownership and the dates that matter.
Can you help improve future documents?
Yes. We can connect remediation with guidance and training for content teams, helping authors understand structure, accessible source documents and export checks.
Discuss your document requirements
Let us know the formats, approximate volume and any delivery dates or accessibility requirements.
